🔴 The Moment We're In: What We Heard Last Night, and What We're Doing About It

Last night, the president stood before Congress for nearly two hours and declared a "golden age." He spewed dehumanizing anti-immigrant rhetoric, attacked transgender children and their families, demanded Congress pass voter suppression legislation, and accused Democrats of cheating — without evidence — to lay the groundwork for contesting future elections. (For our full statement click here.)

But here's what he didn't say: that any of it is working unchallenged.

Democrats have blocked DHS funding twice, refusing to write a blank check for agencies that killed two U.S. citizens and still won't accept body cameras or judicial warrants. The SAVE Act he championed has passed the House — but Senate Democrats are united against it, the filibuster is holding, and even some Republicans are calling it federal overreach. And across the country, lawyers are showing up in statehouses, detention centers, and courtrooms to fight back where it matters most.

This docket has six ways to join them. Keep reading.

QUICK ACTIONS

🚨 Tell Congress: No DHS Funding Without Real Accountability

📍 L4GG.org/StopDHSViolence | 2 min

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been partially shut down for 11 days — but Senate Democrats have blocked the funding bill twice, demanding what should be baseline requirements: judicial warrants, body cameras, unmasked agents, and an end to lawless raids. The White House and Senate Republicans have refused to budge.

Meanwhile, TSA agents, Coast Guard members, and FEMA workers are going without pay — not because Democrats are obstructing, but because the administration won't agree to basic accountability for the agencies that killed two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis. The negotiations are ongoing, and your voice strengthens the fight for reform.

Tell your Senators: Hold the line. No funding without guardrails on ICE and Border Patrol.

🗳️ Oppose the SAVE Act—Defend the Right to Vote

📍 L4GG.org/OpposeSAVEAct | 2 min

The House passed the SAVE America Act — and now it's headed to the Senate, where some Republicans are pushing to blow up filibuster rules to ram it through. The bill would require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote and photo ID at the ballot box. The Brennan Center estimates 21 million Americans lack ready access to these documents.

The filibuster is the only thing standing between this bill and becoming law. GOP hardliners are pressuring Senate leadership to force a "talking filibuster" showdown that could bypass the 60-vote threshold. Senate Democrats have called the bill "Jim Crow 2.0" — and even some Republicans, including Lisa Murkowski and Mitch McConnell, have pushed back against this federal overreach into state-run elections.

Tell your Senators: Reject the SAVE Act!
