🔴 The Moment We're In: He Put It in Writing
Todd Blanche was given a chance to reassure the Senate. Instead, in more than 400 pages of written responses to the Judiciary Committee released this week, he stood by his position that the Justice Department is not independent from the president. This was a formal, written submission to the United States Senate from the man asking to be confirmed as the nation's chief law enforcement officer. Senator Tillis had already warned that "even a whiff" of lost independence could cost Blanche his vote. This is not a whiff. It is the whole case, in his own words.
With the Judiciary Committee split 11-10, a single Republican no vote stops this nomination. Cornyn remains unsatisfied that the $1.8 billion fund is legally dead. More than 1,200 DOJ alumni have signed on opposing the nomination, and 2,600+ lawyers signed L4GG’s open letter to the Senate. Epstein survivors wrote to the committee this week urging rejection. Meanwhile, the same playbook is running elsewhere: the Senate rejected the SAVE Act twice this year, so its supporters are attaching it to must-pass spending bills. The president's personal attorney-turned-prosecutor Jay Clayton is up for Director of National Intelligence. 🗳️ Tell Congress: Reject the SAVE America Act — However It's Packaged
The Senate has rejected the SAVE Act twice this year. Instead of accepting that outcome, its supporters in the House are trying to force it into law through the back door: a rider attached to the FY2027 State Department funding bill (passed the House 217-209 on July 16), plus the new Voter ID Act (H.R. 9368) — a nationwide strict photo ID mandate built to bypass the filibuster through reconciliation.The combined effect would be devastating to voting rights: documentary proof of citizenship that roughly 21.3 million eligible citizens can't easily access, a photo ID standard that not a single state's current law satisfies, criminal penalties on election workers, and forced rewrites of election law in all 50 states with no transition period. The Senate said no — twice. Passing voter suppression through must-pass spending bills is an abuse of process.Tell your legislators to strip these provisions and vote NO.

Jay Clayton faced sharp questioning by the Senate Intelligence Committee last week — where he defended the grand jury subpoenas he issued to NYT journalists to unmask their sources. Federal law requires the Director of National Intelligence to have extensive national security expertise. Every one of the last eight people to hold or be nominated for the role had a background in intelligence, the military, diplomacy, or oversight. Clayton has none. What he has is a record: subpoenaing reporters, exposing trafficking victims' information in the Epstein files, rolling back whistleblower protections, and defending the president's slush fund on national television.Confirmation takes only a simple majority — every senator's vote counts. On August 4, Missourians vote on Amendment 4 — a constitutional amendment that would end majority rule for ballot initiatives by requiring approval in a majority of congressional districts, the highest vote threshold in the country. It's designed to make it nearly impossible for Missourians to pass reforms the legislature opposes. No-excuse absentee voting is open now through August 3. The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is TODAY (July 22) by 5 PM CST. Join the campaign!
