🔴 The Moment We're In: A Big Night, and One Fight Left
Big wins Tuesday night. Kansas voters rejected the Judicial Selection Amendment, preserving the state's merit-based system for choosing Supreme Court justices over partisan elections answering to donors. Missouri voters rejected Amendment 4, which would have made citizen-led ballot reform nearly impossible by requiring majority support across a majority of congressional districts. Two states where real organizing paid off.
Now the fight turns to Saturday. The Senate Judiciary Committee narrowly advanced Todd Blanche's nomination for Attorney General along party lines Tuesday, 12-10, sending it to a full Senate floor vote scheduled for Saturday. Senators Cornyn and Tillis, who had stalled the nomination over the anti-weaponization fund and audit immunity questions, ultimately came on board: But the confirmation fight is far from settled.
Hours after news broke that Blanche had privately pledged to religious leaders that he'd work to restrict abortion access nationwide — including in states where it remains legal — Senator Susan Collins announced she would oppose his confirmation, citing his abortion comments alongside broader concerns about DOJ politicization. Blanche reportedly told the group Intercessors for America that the DOJ is working closely with federal health agencies and the White House to lock in the Dobbs decision in every state.
Just three Republican defections could sink the nomination. Collins is one. Murkowski, who also supports abortion rights, is a possible second. Cassidy hasn't committed either way, and McConnell remains out recovering from a fall. This is winnable.
Meanwhile, Blanche walked back the anti-weaponization fund but left Trump with unresolved, unprecedented immunity from IRS audits — a benefit no other president has had. Abortion rights and unchecked corruption, on the floor Saturday. Every call matters.

The Senate has rejected the SAVE America Act twice this year, and its supporters keep trying to force it through by attaching it to must-pass legislation, including the annual defense authorization bill. The underlying bill hasn’t changed: a documentary proof of citizenship that roughly 21.3 million eligible citizens can't easily meet, a photo ID standard that no state's current law satisfies, criminal penalties for election workers, and forced rewrites of election law in all 50 states.
Tell your senators to strip these provisions and vote NO - wherever they show up.

L4GG and Voter Protection Corps are building a fully remote program for lawyers to help identify, assess, and respond to election-related mis/disinformation online. L4GG is partnering with Promote the Vote in Michigan to deploy volunteer attorneys for election protection this season — remote hotline shifts, in-person poll monitoring and challenger roles, and post-election canvass monitoring. Some roles are open to anyone; others require Michigan voter registration or willingness to travel. We're gauging interest now and will follow up with interested volunteers in the coming weeks. 🗣️ Spanish Speakers Needed: Habeas Corpus Info Session for Volunteer Interpreters and Attorneys

L4GG is seeking volunteer attorneys, law students, and legal professionals fluent in Spanish to serve as interpreters supporting habeas corpus petitions for people unlawfully detained by ICE — facilitating intake interviews, interpreting legal explanations during telephonic meetings, and coordinating with counsel and family members. Volunteer attorneys are also invited to learn about representing detained individuals in habeas cases directly.
This info session covers what habeas petitions are, the tasks interpreters perform, and the support L4GG provides — including training materials, model petitions, malpractice insurance, legal research tools, and mentoring. No immigration experience required. This session will be recorded and shared with all registrants. Register today.
🏛️ COMMUNITY IMPACT: DEMOCRACY PREVAILS
Big wins Tuesday night in Kansas and Missouri — the two ballot measures our community mobilized against were both defeated.
Kansas voters rejected the Judicial Selection Amendment, preserving the state's 70-year-old merit-based system for choosing Supreme Court justices instead of replacing it with partisan elections that would answer to donors.
Missouri voters rejected Amendment 4, which would have required a majority in a majority of congressional districts to pass future ballot initiatives — the highest threshold in the country, designed to make citizen-led reform nearly impossible.
Both fights were won by daily canvasses, phone banks, and early turnout from volunteers who showed up through Election Day. This is what community mobilization delivers — and it's a preview of what's possible on Blanche this weekend.
