Impact Docket – 3/11/26

This week demands action. Here are TWELVE ways you can push back right now:

Whether you have 2 minutes or 2 days, join the fight. Keep reading for more context.

🔴 The Moment We're In: Too Much Is Happening to Stand Still

The DHS shutdown has entered its fourth week — and Trump fired his own DHS Secretary over a vanity ad campaign, not over the agents that killed two Americans. The president is holding all legislation hostage until Congress passes a voter suppression bill — and demanding anti-trans provisions be attached to it. Federal judges are issuing extraordinary rebukes of ICE for defying court orders, while Trump-appointed appeals courts overturn the guardrails lower courts try to put in place.

It is an overwhelming moment by design. That’s why this week’s Docket has TWELVE actions you can take - more than any issue we've published. From two-minute letters to Congress and writing a detailed rulemaking comment to getting trained to provide legal representation to detained individuals starting this Friday, there is something here for everyone, regardless of capacity.

QUICK ACTIONS

🚨 Tell Congress: No DHS Funding Without Real Accountability

📍 L4GG.org/StopDHSViolence | 2 min

The DHS shutdown is now in its fourth week — and the pressure is building. Senate Democrats have blocked the funding bill three times, demanding what should be baseline requirements: judicial warrants, body cameras, unmasked agents, and an end to lawless raids. A fourth vote is expected this week.

The human cost is escalating. TSA absences have more than doubled, with 300+ officers quitting since the shutdown began. At Houston's Hobby Airport, over half of officers called out in a single day. Airports across the country are seeing 3-5 hour security lines during spring break — and TSA workers will miss their first full paycheck this Saturday. Trump fired DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, but Democrats are clear: the problems go deeper than one person.

Tell Senators: Hold the line. No funding without real guardrails on ICE and Border Patrol.

🗳️ Oppose the SAVE Act—Defend the Right to Vote

📍 L4GG.org/OpposeSAVEAct | 2 min

The SAVE America Act passed the House 218-213 — and Senate leadership is expected to bring it to the floor as early as next week. The bill would require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote and photo ID at the ballot box. The Brennan Center estimates 21 million Americans lack ready access to these documents.

Trump is escalating on all fronts: he's threatening to refuse to sign any legislation until the SAVE Act passes, and is now demanding anti-trans provisions and mail-in ballot restrictions be added to the bill — moving the goalposts even further. Senate Democrats have called the bill "Jim Crow 2.0," and even Republicans like Lisa Murkowski have called it federal overreach. The filibuster is holding — but the pressure campaign is intensifying.

Tell Senators: Defend the filibuster and reject the SAVE Act.

✈️ Donate Your Miles or Points: Send a Lawyer to Fort Bliss

📍 L4GG.org/TravelFund

Over 5,000 people are detained at Fort Bliss — most without legal representation. More than 150 attorneys have said they're ready to go volunteer to help. The biggest barrier? Getting them there.

L4GG's Travel Fund turns your unused frequent flyer miles, hotel points, or credit card rewards into flights for volunteer attorneys deploying through our Detention Bridge program. Your miles send lawyers to conduct legal intakes, represent people in bond hearings, file habeas petitions, and deliver Know Your Rights presentations.

📩 SHORT-TERM ENGAGEMENT

🌍 Submit a Comment: Protect EV Charging Infrastructure

📩 Email NPRM-comments@L4GG.org with your comment and submission | Deadline: 3/16

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is proposing to change the rules for EV charger projects mid-stream — requiring 100% domestic components with no transition period and no clear pathway for compliance. Communities already burdened by vehicle pollution would lose access to the federal funds they fought to get.

We need substantive comments that FHWA will be forced to address. L4GG has developed a comment template to help you draft a powerful comment before the March 16 deadline.

  1. Read L4GG’s Comment Template & draft your comment.

  2. Submit your comment via the Federal Register by March 16, 2026.

  3. Send your submission confirmation to NPRM-comments@L4GG.org.

🏛️ Submit a Comment: Oppose "Litmus Test" for Federal Grantees

📩 Email NPRM-comments@L4GG.org with your comment and submission | Deadline: 3/30

The administration is proposing to change SAM.gov registration requirements so that every organization applying for or renewing a federal grant must certify they aren’t violating federal anti-discrimination laws (including by running DEIA programs or offering race-based scholarships, "harboring" undocumented individuals, or engaging in terrorist activities). As a result, organizations may risk losing their funding — or face False Claims Act liability.

This is a litmus test for federal aid that could force nonprofits to choose between their mission and their funding. L4GG has developed a comment template to help you fight back before the March 30 deadline.

  1. Read L4GG’s Comment Template & draft your comment.

  2. Submit your comment via the Federal Register by March 30, 2026.

  3. Send your submission confirmation to NPRM-comments@L4GG.org.

🏭 Submit a Comment: Protect Families from Industrial Chemical Disasters

📩 Email NPRM-comments@L4GG.org with your comment and submission | Deadline: 4/10

The EPA is proposing to gut the Risk Management Program — stripping third-party audits, removing "stop work" authority for employees during emergencies, and limiting the public's ability to know what hazardous chemicals are stored next to their schools and homes.

To fight back effectively, we need substantive comments that build a legal record the EPA is forced to address. L4GG has developed a comment template to help you take action before the April 10 deadline.

  1. Read L4GG’s Comment Template & draft your comment.

  2. Submit your comment via the Federal Register by April 10, 2026.

Send your submission confirmation to NPRM-comments@L4GG.org.
